A recent list of the top 10 websites by traffic in the US shows that Google.com sits comfortably in first place. In March 2024, the popular search engine’s website received 36.98 billion visits. Google is also the most used search engine in the world, with over 90% of online queries carried out on its site.

This is followed by YouTube.com, with 23.69 billion visits. Incidentally, YouTube is a Google-owned entity. Google.com and YouTube.com are also the two most visited websites globally.

Reddit.com is the third most popular website in the US. Despite ranking relatively high, its traffic is significantly lower than that of Google and YouTube. In March 2024, Reddit.com had 4.63 billion visits—just over 12% of the traffic Google.com received.

Fourth on the list of the top 10 websites in the US is Facebook.com, the world’s most popular social media platform, with 4.03 billion visits. Amazon.com, the largest ecommerce company worldwide by market value and one of the top online marketplaces in the US, rounds out the top five. The site received 3.51 billion visits in March 2024.

Popular online encyclopedia Wikipedia.org is sixth on the list of the top US websites. The search engine received over 2.71 billion visits. Yahoo, another search engine, is close behind in seventh place with 2.36 billion.

Duckduckgo.com, the fourth-most popular search engine in the US, follows in eighth place. It received 2.32 billion visits. Another social media website, Twitter.com, is next. The microblogging site had 2.28 billion visits. Instagram.com rounds out the top 10 websites in the US. It received 1.68 billion visits in March 2024.

Top websites in the US: pages per visit and bounce rates

Of these top websites, YouTube.com performed the best in terms of number of pages visited per session. In March 2024, the average user on YouTube.com visited 6.29 pages. Meanwhile, the site with the lowest number of pages visited is Twitter.com, with an average of two pages per session.

YouTube.com also registered the best bounce rate. At 34.48%, it means that just one-third of its users leave the site after visiting just one page. On the other end of the spectrum is Twitter.com, which had a bounce rate of 69.99%.
